A great day for Jump Jam!

Room 12 led the school in Jump Jam today. We picked three of our favourite songs to get everyone moving. It was hot but lots of fun and an awesome way to make the most of the amazing weather we've had over the last couple of days!

Science with Dave.

On Tuesday the 10th of November Room 12 and half of Room 13 went to see Science Dave.
We learnt about different acids and mixed acids and water and then put in some magnesium and recorded how long it took for the metal to dissolve. We tested the experiment in 3 different ways. We filled some measuring tubs with 15ml of acid and 5ml with water, 20ml of acid, 10ml of acid 10ml of water. We did all of these twice and the last one once because we didn't have enough time. We had a great time with Dave and hopefully we can do it again.

SPCA visit

Yesterday Steph Saunders came to visit Room 12 to talk to us about how to be save around dogs. Steph brought along her two dogs Tui and Wilbur, both dogs were rescued from an unhappy home. They were really cute. She also showed us a clip of what she has to go through basically every day. She showed us some techniques of how to protect yourself if a dog looks like it will have a go at you. The clip that she showed us was really sad and hard to take in. I really enjoyed Steph coming I can't wait for her to come again.

Tile Art

After having some Oamaru Stone tiles the Senior Syndicate of 2014 decided to create some carvings to 'leave their mark' on the school.
With the help of Gavin and Rachael Wilson we engraved each child's name on a tile, the children then created a carving before having the tiles treated so they would be ok in the weather.
Some VERY patient helpers from Room 12 have started helping Mrs Brown to display the tiles.
We've still got lots more to do so if you had a spare half an hour and a wee bit of patience then we'd love your help!

Year 5 Camp

Last week the Year 5s had a fabulous time at Waiora on their camp.
Highlights included abseiling, archery, air rifles, visiting the glow worms and of course the food!
